Rock Climbing

Beautiful granite formations are a paradise for rock climbers  The crown jewel of the area is a group of striking spires known as the Needles (pictured above) – perched on a ridge thousands of feet above the Kern River.

Long popular among local climbers for their sweeping faces and long continuous cracks – today the Needles attract expert climbers from all over the United States and the world to the Giant Sequoia National Monument.
