Mission and Goals
The mission of the Giant Sequoia National Monument Association is to support those educational and recreational programs that enhance and facilitate the sustainable management, protection, public enjoyment, and stewardship of the Giant Sequoia National Monument and the surrounding lands of the Sequoia National Forest. The Monument Association was founded in 2009 and is headquartered in Porterville, California.
Our goals are as follows:
- Establish a public identity for the Monument
- Create public awareness of the GSNMA and its activities to support the Monument
- Support the responsible recreational use of the Monument
- Foster relationships with governmental and non-governmental organizations to promote and effectively manage the Monument
- Promote stewardship and educational activities on the Monument
- Represent various constituencies concerned with the Monument and the Sequoia National Forest
