Planning a Visit to Sequoia National Forest?

Conditions in the forests change seasonally, during the winter months, many roads are closed due to snow. In late summer and fall, wildfires can necessitate closures in campground and day use areas. Sequoia NF COVID-19 and Recreation Update – Temporary Closures in Effect

May 17, 2020 — The USDA Forest Service, Sequoia National Forest (SQF) announced that developed recreation sites will remain closed on the Western Divide Ranger District until May 21, the Hume Lake Ranger District until June 11, and the Kern River Ranger District until May 21.

Needles Rock Formation Temporarily Closed

PORTERVILLE, August 19, 2019 – The Needles rock formation, very popular with rock climbers, will be closed for a short duration while the charred staircase from the Needles Lookout is removed.
